Events: Millennial Mayors Inaugural Meeting
May 8th, 2009 by Sarah Szurpicki View ProfileIn Southeast Michigan, GLUE has been following and trying to support the Millennial Mayors Congress, which I believe is a promising effort to engage young leaders and to build stronger regional connections, which Metro Detroit desperately needs.
Well, the young representatives to the Congress have been elected, and their work is about to begin. The Michigan Suburbs Alliance is hosting an open-to-the public meeting to help the Congress determine their strategies and priorities for the coming year. More details can be found at the Millenial Mayors website, but the basics are here:
Saturday, June 6, 2009
9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
Detroit Regional Chamber
1 Woodward Avenue
Detroit, MI 48226
On June 6, the Detroit area will launch a first-of-its-kind regional partnership: the Millennial Mayors Congress. This group of city officials and rising leaders will work together to improve metro Detroit, and you can take part in its inaugural meeting.
- Meet the city officials and rising leaders serving on the Congress.
- Hear from Memphisian Eric Robertson about building a culture of opportunity in metro Detroit.
- Glean insight from a multi-disciplinary panel about how the Millenial Mayors Congress could help “green” the region.
Following lunch, the Congress will convene for the business meeting, where representatives will adopt a charter, elect an executive committee and select their first-year focus issue.
